The Department of Posts is expected to announce a massive recruitment drive for approximately 30,000 Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) vacancies across all circles in India. This is one of the most popular recruitment drives because it is based solely on 10th-standard marks, with no written exam required.
The India Post GDS recruitment offers a stable opportunity for candidates to work as Branch Postmasters (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmasters (ABPM) in rural areas.

Job Location: Rural post offices across all Indian States/Circles.
Educational Qualification:
10th Standard Pass: Must have passed Secondary School Examination with passing marks in Mathematics and English.
Local Language: Compulsory knowledge of the local language of the applied circle (must have studied it up to 10th standard).
Additional Skills:
Knowledge of Cycling is mandatory.
Basic Computer Knowledge is preferred.
Age Limit (as of 01.01.2026):
General: 18 to 40 years.
Relaxation: 3 years for OBC; 5 years for SC/ST; 10 years for PwD.
India Post provides a Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) for GDS employees:
BPM: ₹12,000 to ₹29,380 per month.
ABPM / Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 to ₹24,470 per month.
The selection is Direct Merit-Based:
Automatic Merit Generation: Candidates are shortlisted based on their 10th Class Marks (percentage calculated up to 4 decimal points).
No Written Exam: There is no competitive exam or interview.
Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must present original certificates for verification at the designated divisional office.

Registration: Click on "Stage 1 - Registration" and enter your mobile number, Aadhaar, and basic details.
Application Fee: Pay ₹100 (General/OBC/EWS). SC/ST/PwD and all Female candidates are Exempted (Free).
Fill Application: Upload your 10th marksheet and choose your Post Preferences (you can choose multiple posts within a division).
Submit: Save a copy of the application for future reference.
