1. Requirement Overview

The Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (AP PGCET 2026) is a state-level entrance examination conducted on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). It is meant for candidates seeking admission into various first-year Post Graduate courses such as M.A., M.Com., M.Sc., MCJ, M.Lib.I.Sc., M.Ed., M.P.Ed., M.Sc.Tech., etc., offered by Andhra Pradesh State-funded Universities and their constituent/affiliated colleges for the Academic Year 2026-27.

2. Requirement Important Dates

• Issue of Notification: 07-02-2026

• Commencement of Online Registration & Submission: 09-02-2026

• Last date for submission without late fee: 19-03-2026

• Last date for submission with a late fee of Rs. 1000/-: 23-03-2026

• Last date for submission with a late fee of Rs. 2000/-: 27-03-2026

• Last date for submission with a late fee of Rs. 4000/-: 31-03-2026

• Last date for submission with a late fee of Rs. 10,000/-: 04-04-2026

• Correction of online application data: 05-04-2026

• Downloading of Hall Tickets from the website: 20-04-2026

• Commencement of Entrance Tests: 05-05-2026 to 11-05-2026

3. Application Fee

The registration fee is dynamically structured based on the applicant's category for a single subject:

• OC Candidates: Rs. 850/-

• BC Candidates: Rs. 750/-

• SC / ST / PH Candidates: Rs. 650/- (Candidates applying for additional test subjects must pay an extra fee per subject. Payments must be made online via Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking).

4. Age Limitation

• Minimum Age: There is no minimum age limit prescribed to appear for the AP PGCET exam.

• Maximum Age: For simply appearing in the examination, there is no upper age limit. However, to claim fee reimbursement/scholarships under state government schemes, candidates must generally be under 30 years of age (34 years for SC/ST/BC candidates) as of 1st July of the admission year.

• Age Relaxation based on category: Applicable only for fee reimbursement eligibility, as stated above.

5. Eligibility Category

• Nationality: Candidates must be Indian Nationals and satisfy local/non-local status as per the A.P. Educational Institutions Order, 1974.

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed or be appearing for their final year bachelor's degree examinations (B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Ed., etc.) relevant to the chosen PG course.

• Minimum Marks: Candidates must have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination. For SC/ST candidates, a mere pass in the qualifying degree is sufficient. (Note: For courses like M.Ed., a higher minimum aggregate of 50% may be required).

6. Detailed List of Vacancy

Since AP PGCET is an academic entrance examination for university and college admissions and not a direct job recruitment drive, specific vacancy numbers do not apply. The exact seat matrix—detailing intake per participating university, affiliated college, and course code—will be published by APSCHE just before the web counseling phase.

7. Selection Process/Stages

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): The primary qualification exam for the respective PG course.

2. Preliminary Key & Objections: Review of the official answers and submission of challenges.

3. Result & Rank Declaration: Generating a merit rank based on the normalized scores of the CBT.

4. Web Counselling & Document Verification: Online certificate verification, exercising web options for participating universities/colleges, and final seat allotment based on rank, category, and local area reservations.

8. Exam Pattern

The AP PGCET is conducted strictly as an objective-type Computer Based Test (CBT):

• Total Duration: 90 Minutes (1.5 Hours)

• Total Questions: 100 Objective-type multiple-choice questions

• Total Marks: 100 Marks (Each correct answer carries 1 mark)

• Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

• Medium of Exam: Generally English, except for specific language courses (Telugu, Hindi, Urdu, etc.) which will be in their respective languages.

9. Previous Year Cut Off Analysis

To obtain a rank in the merit list, candidates must meet the official qualifying standard:

• General / BC Categories: Must secure a minimum of 35% marks (i.e., 35 marks out of 100).

• SC / ST / PH Categories: There is no minimum qualifying mark prescribed. Ranking is allocated purely based on relative merit and CBT performance.

10. Required Documents

For filling out the Online Application & Web Counseling:

• Qualifying Degree Certificate and Marks Memos

• SSC (10th) or equivalent certificate (as proof of Date of Birth)

• Local Candidate Proof (Study certificates from 9th class to Degree)

• Income Certificate / Ration Card (if claiming fee exemption)

• Caste / Community Certificate (for SC/ST/BC candidates)

• Special Category Certificates (NCC, CAP, Sports, PH, Bharat Scouts & Guides) if applicable

11. General Conditions and Instructions

• Participating Universities: Admissions are granted to state universities like Andhra University, Sri Venkateswara University, Yogi Vemana University, Acharya Nagarjuna University, etc.

• Bharat Scouts GO: Candidates claiming reservations under the Bharat Scouts and Guides quota must possess valid documentation as per the latest government order.

• Corrections Window: Any errors in the application form (excluding primary details like Name, Category, and Mobile Number) can only be rectified during the designated correction window.

• Test centers will be allotted based on preference, but the Convener reserves the right to reallocate centers based on administrative constraints.

12. How to Apply

2. Navigate to the "Fee Payment" link, enter your Qualifying Exam details, Name, Date of Birth, and Mobile Number to pay the registration fee.

3. Upon success, use the generated "Payment Reference ID" to access the "Fill Application Form" module.

4. Enter all requisite personal, educational, and reservation details. Select the specific test course codes accurately.

5. Upload a recently scanned passport-size photograph and your signature.

6. Submit the application and print out the final "Filled In Application Form" to present at the examination center.

13. Strategic Preparation and Recommended Books

• Course-Specific Syllabus: The 100 questions are drawn purely from the undergraduate syllabus of the respective subject. Stick to the standard State University prescribed UG textbooks.

• Time Management: You have 90 minutes for 100 questions. Practice solving previous years' papers to improve your speed to less than a minute per question.

• Mock Tests: Attempt the official mock tests provided on the APSCHE portal to acclimatize to the CBT interface, as navigation between questions on the screen is crucial for time-saving.
