Fractions: Introduction (Chapter 7)

• A fraction is a number representing a part of a whole, where the parts must be equal. The whole can be a single object or a group of objects.

• In the fraction $\frac{5}{12}$, the number '12' is the denominator, representing the number of equal parts the whole is divided into.

• The number '5' is the numerator, representing the number of equal parts taken out.
