The air quality in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) deteriorated significantly, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching the 'severe' category (around 459-497 in some areas). Residents reported breathing difficulties and eye irritation. In response, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has invoked Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), and the Delhi government has directed schools to conduct classes for grades IX and XI in hybrid mode. The CAQM also ordered a ban on outdoor sports competitions in the NCR.
