This blog provides an in-depth look at the SSC Constable (GD) 2026 syllabus, based on the official recruitment notice. The Computer-Based Examination (CBE) is the first and most critical step in the selection process, consisting of 80 objective-type questions worth a total of 160 marks.
The examination is divided into four sections, each designed to test specific skills required for a career in the Central Armed Police Forces. All questions are of Matriculation (10th Class) level.
1. General Intelligence and Reasoning
This section tests your analytical aptitude and your ability to observe and distinguish patterns. It primarily consists of non-verbal questions.
Analogies: Testing the relationship between different elements.
Similarities and Differences: Identifying common traits or unique features.
Spatial Visualization & Orientation: Understanding 2D and 3D shapes and their positions.
Visual Memory: Recalling visual information accurately.
Relationship Concepts: Problems based on family trees and social relations.
Arithmetical Reasoning: Using basic math to solve logical puzzles.
Figural Classification: Grouping shapes based on shared characteristics.
Series: Includes both Arithmetic Number Series and Non-verbal series.
Coding and Decoding: Decoding messages or patterns based on set rules.
2. General Knowledge and General Awareness
This component aims to test your awareness of the environment around you and your knowledge of current events. Questions are designed to test matters of everyday observation that an educated person should know.
Current Events: Important national and international news.
Sports: Major tournaments, awards, and famous personalities.
History & Culture: Significant events in Indian history and cultural heritage.
Geography: Physical, social, and economic geography of India and its neighbors.
Economic Scene: Basic concepts of the Indian economy.
General Polity & Indian Constitution: Understanding the framework of Indian governance.
Scientific Research: Basic scientific discoveries and development.
3. Elementary Mathematics
This section focuses on high-school level arithmetic and your ability to work with numbers efficiently.
Number Systems: Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals, and Fractions.
Relationships between Numbers: How numbers interact with each other.
Fundamental Arithmetical Operations: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Percentages, Ratio, and Proportion: Core concepts used in most math problems.
Averages & Interest: Calculating means and simple/compound interest.
Profit, Loss, and Discount: Real-world applications of arithmetic.
Mensuration: Calculating area, perimeter, and volume of geometric figures.
Time and Distance: Problems involving speed and travel.
Ratio and Time: Solving problems related to proportional time.
Time and Work: Calculating efficiency and work completion times.
4. English / Hindi
Candidates have the option to choose either English or Hindi as their medium for this section. It is designed to test basic comprehension and grammar skills.
Basic Understanding: Ability to read and understand the chosen language.
Comprehension: Testing the ability to grasp the meaning of passages.
Grammar: Basic sentence structure, parts of speech, and vocabulary.
Important Exam Rules to Remember
Negative Marking: Be careful! There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
Duration: You have exactly 60 minutes to complete all 80 questions.
Regional Languages: Apart from English and Hindi, the CBE will also be conducted in 13 regional languages including Assamese, Bengali, Telugu, and more.
Calculators: Use of calculators or any other electronic gadgets is strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.
